All big religions speak about a primäry force or vibration
or a name as the origin of creation. In the "revelation of John" we can read in chapter 22:
"The angel showed me the river with the water of life
which sparkles like crystal. The river flows from the throne of god and the lamb,
und flows in the middle of the capital through the town.
On both shores of the river grows the tree of life.... All those who are there will
serve GOD, they will see him and HIS name will be on their forehead.... "
Therefore the Meditation on the holy name(Schem,Logos,
Nama ,Sabda etc.) is practized in most
spiritual scools. On the buddhic plane this river appears in form of the sounds of
the spheres of the "Omkara" or BANI(Pranava).
The practice of this meditation can be found in the scools of
Nada-Yoga
and of Surat Sabda-Yoga(Radhasoami).
One of the Kriya-Meditations of the SRF uses this effective technique in combination with
a mantram(OM,AUM). In most scools of Sant Mat and in Radhasoami it is practiced with less effect just
listening into the silence and waiting for the sounds to come. In Sikhism it is the meditation
on Naam together with a wooden "T".
The tibetan gurus told their disciples not to listen to the dark sounds but to the brighter
vibrations.
From H.P. Blavatsky :
The Voice of silence, The secret doctrine
"Before You can put Your foot on the upper step of the ladder, the ladder of mystical tones,
You must hear the voice of Your God in seven different ways :
The first is like the nightingale's sweet voice chanting a song of parting to its mate.
The second comes as the sound of a silver cymbal of the Dhyanis, awakening the twinkling stars.
The next is as the plaint melodious of the oceansprite imprisoned in its shell.
And this is followed by the chant of Vina (26).
The fifth like sound of bamboo-flute shrills in shine ear.
It changes next into a trumpet-blast.
The last vibrates like the dull rumbling of a thunder-cloud.
The seventh swallows all the other sounds. They die, and then are heard no more.
When the six (27) are slain and at the Master's feet are laid, then is the pupil
merged into the ONE (28), becomes that ONE
and lives therein.
Before that path is entered, thou must destroy your lunar body (29), cleanse
thy mind-body(30) and make clean thy heart.
Eternal life's pure waters, clear and crystal, with the monsoon
tempest's muddy torrents cannot mingle.
( A Bodhisattwa has been borne. )
In the begining, before the world was created, was HE,
who is the WORD.
HE was near to GOD and in everything equal to god.
From the begining he was with GOD. Through HIM
everything was created; nothing was created without HIM.
In all created things he was the life, and
for the people HE was the light.
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness
has not been able to extinguish is.
(Gosple of John, 1,1-5 )
"In the beginning PTAH
spoke words, und the world was created.....Thus
Ptah was satisfied after he had made all things
and all divine words.
"
(Antique nubian stone-board with hyroglyphs.)
(Prajapati vai idam agre asit tasya vak dvitiya asit vak vai param brahma ) or :
"In the begining was
Prajapati. With HIM was VAK (the WORD), and VAK was
verily the highest Brahman."(Rig Veda)
Ann.: In Hinduism the Sabda or pranava is the highest goal of the Mantram.
But very few of the western disciples in the many Sabda-Scools hear the Shabda
because such techniques without an additional mantram are a very ineffective
without the initiation (VAK) of a true guru !
The primäry divine stream is already created on the monadic divine plane.
From there it floats across the atmic plane into the buddhic plane and
modulates the Maya and becomes the Pranava.
The "sound current" on the other side of the area of the KAL(time) is known as "SAR SHABD".
However, there exist sub-vibrations of the eternal tone-current also in the area
of the three Gunas (of Maya):
"BANI, which exits in the area of the three Gunas,
is a big network of Brahma. It holds the seeker tight in the discussion, the conclusion and the
consideration in the area of the KAL(the dissolution)"; Gauri, M. 3
A similar description gives Amir Khusro(in Tazkra-i-Ghousia) :
....About these
10 Melodies the Yogin meditates,
his senses become still and his mind too.
With the appearance of the unlimited inner music
all desires of the flesh and all deadly sins disappear.
The master has his own wonderful world."
--Psalms 54:1
Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of Thy Name, and deliver us
and purge away our sins, for Thy Name's sake!
--Psalms 79:9
Our help is in the Name of the Lord.
All these sounds are just aspects of the original stream, and meditation on "light and Sound" using a
Bija-Mantram like Naam, OM or Aum can aviod these sounds and lead to the direct force of Sabda for the
progressed meditator. The gnostic consciousness is a visionary consciousness, and the stream itself
is no sound on the higher planes.
All that explains why the statues of many BUDDHAS have such "big and long ears" : They stand in
the SHABDA, and so they really have "GOLDEN EARS".
