So spoke the exalted Buddha : |

You should not beleive in teachings just because they are being proclaimed;
neither should You beleive in old traditions just because of their venerable
age ; neither in rumours that are just rumours ; neither in scriptures only
because they have been written by wise men ; neither in imaginations that we
think have been given to us from angels ( through mental inspiration ) ;
neither should You beleive in the conclusions from arbitrary assumptions
or into that which seems to be a logical and causal context ; neither just
into the authority of our teachers and masters :
But we must beleive if the scriptures , the teachings or the proclaimed is
confirmed by our realizing reason .
